What's in the news...?

Still the Memorial Fountain …
It just won’t go away will it? Who does that remind you of? Perhaps it was the right way to remember the Princess after all. Now with officials watching over every move so that rules are not broken it emulates her life all the more. I’m sure she would be laughing about the whole situation, were she still here. “Can’t wait for winter Darren, when it freezes up they can use it to practice Bobsled for the Winter Olympics” … I can hear her now.

The People's Statue …
Interesting news about a campaign to bring a “peoples statue” of the Princess to the center of the British capital. Jonathan Stone, a former solicitor and part-time charity fundraiser has joined forces with sculptor Nigel Boonham to raise 200,000 pounds to create two 10ft bronze statues of the Princess, one in London and one in New York. Boonham told CNN…"I wanted to portray Diana doing her charity and patronage work. It really just commemorates her good works -- nobody seems to be doing that. They have forgotten how good she was with AIDS and land mines."

A clay model of the figure already unveiled – it shows the Princess in a simple evening gown – devoid of jewelry – but with a broad smile - in my opinion, is what the memorial fund should have chosen as a tribute to the late Princess. How could one not look at that and smile.
