Upcoming Cooking Classes…

Thank you to everyone that came to my Easter cooking classes at Market Street in McKinney and Colleyville. It was good to see so many familiar faces. You will all soon have enough of my recipes that I won’t need to write a cookbook. (smiles)

Once again we had the “sold out” sign up at both classes and I thank you all again for supporting me. Here is a heads up on April and Mays schedule so that you can call ahead and make a reservation before each cooking school's brochure is released.

My next class is going to be at Whole foods in Plano on April 16 11:00am – 1:00pm. This is my first time at this store, they have just started cooking classes again and have reduced rates on all classes, so check out their entire schedule for this quarter. Here is what I will be demonstrating, sampling and sharing recipes of;
Goat Cheese and Thyme Soufflés with a Lime and Ginger Dressing, Poached Salmon with a Dill Hollandaise, Gaelic Steaks, Braised Pearl Barley with Leeks and Pecans, Chocolate Perfection Pie with a Raspberry Coulis.
Give Laurie Barenblat a call on 972 612 6729 if you are interested.

The following week April 23, I am going to be at the Grapevine Recreation Center 11:00am – 1:30pm. This is another first for me too and I am hoping we have a few sign ups here from people that came to my demonstrations at Grapefest last year. Here is what I will be demonstrating, sampling and sharing recipes of;
Applewood Smoked Trout, Fennel and Apple Salad with a Dill Cream Dressing. Tenderloin Steaks with a Stilton and Walnut Crust and a Celery Cream Sauce. Boulangere Potatoes, Normandy Style. White Chocolate and Banana Timbales with a Caramel Sauce and Raspberry Coulis. Raspberry St Georges with a Traditional Scottish Shortbread.
For reservations call 817 410 3450.

Then it’s back to my old stomping ground, Market Street in Mckinney on May 7. It’s the day before Mother’s day so what better than a Mothers day tea party? This class will run 2:00pm – 4:00pm and here is what I will be demonstrating, sampling and sharing recipes of;
Chicken and Mayonnaise Sandwiches, Cucumber and Cream Cheese, Jam Pennies.Checkerboard cookies, English Scones with Jam and Clotted Cream, Brandy Snaps, Double Chocolate Mocha Brownies, Earl Grey Tea Cake.
Call Sonja, Deb and Ruth on 972 548 5167

And finally for May I finish with a two classes on “OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING.” First one at Market Street in Colleyville on May 21 11:00am – 1:00pm and then Market Street in McKinney on May 22 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Now, not being a native Texan I wouldn’t get away with teaching you how to cook on the grill, but I can show you a few dishes to prepare in the morning to wow your guests later in the day when they come over to share the afternoon sun with you.
For a seat at this class please call Debbie or Judy on 817 577 5047

Update on the Diana, Memorial Fountain…

You know, it’s not until you see the latest aerial photograph of the tribute to Princess Diana (first wife of Prince Charles) that it really hits you. You see, the site is currently undergoing a huge makeover to solve - the design fault – drainage problem and the photo shows it with its heart ripped out. (I’m sorry; I mean all of the grass in the center removed) Look at the photograph. Of all of the shapes in the world that could have been chosen for a lasting tribute to a Princess that would never be Queen someone had to pick two “C’s” joined together. Quite apt for April 8th wouldn’t you say ?

And finally...

If you think that I may be able to help raise funds for YOUR charity in some way then please contact me. There’s only one of me and I do have a full time job so I can’t promise to help everyone, but we may be able to work something out.

Until next time......

Be good
         Darren
