August 2004

What's in the news...?
August already, this year is flying by. Not just this year, it’s hard to believe that it will be seven years at the end of this month since the Princess’s tragic accident. Seven years on and the Boss is still making headlines in the newspapers, still causing headaches for the establishment and still showing no signs of going away in the near future if what we read in the press is true. It won’t be long until we are all subject to the next set of tapes that are now back in the hands of her old voice coach Peter Settelen. Ironic his new book is called……. “Just talk to me…” I bet he’s glad the Princess did now.

It’s funny seeing Prince William racing around London on his new motorbike. At fourteen I remember him leant against the window in the kitchen at Kensington Palace, he had come through for some ice cream “When I grow up I am going to be a Police motor cyclist Darren” I remember him saying. Well your'e half way there Sir!

Well, it’s been a wet week here in Dallas. The 100 degree days have given way to thunderstorms and heavy rain. There is water everywhere, which is more than can be said for the Memorial fountain. This should have been the first year since the Princess’s death that hundreds of children on summer break could have been running around the “moat” – splashing away happily, not a care in the world. Watched over by their parents, feet soothing in the running waters reminiscing about Princess Diana.

Instead a seven foot fence surrounds the memory of the great lady, preventing her from reaching out to the children. “Don’t get too close children, you will get hurt…” the young ones are told as they are led away hastily from the Diana, memorial fountain that took so long to build.

Irony again that something created as a tribute to a Princess that touched the world and a Mother who adored children should end up hurting and disappointing them.

Dayspring Villa update...
As I mentioned in last months news letter I will be in Tulsa on August 7 and 8 to help fundraise for the Baptist women’s shelter foundation in Sand Springs. On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th I will be demonstrating and preparing a Royal afternoon tea party. Through the generosity of The Stock Pot in Tulsa (the venue), sponsors for the food and others donating their weekend to help at the events we aim to raise $3000. I believe Saturday has already sold out but there are a few tickets left still for Sunday. If you live in the Tulsa area come and meet me and let me prepare tea for you. Or if you know someone who lives in the area, call them and let them know about us. Please help us make these two events a huge success for the charity.

Saturday August 7 in the evening I will be at Tulsa Country Club preparing food for the Annual Dayspring Villa fund raiser. It is a 300 seater venue and we have already sold 200 plus tickets, so again, if you live local – come along. If you know someone that does, call them and tell them to. I promise a good time at both events – and remember it’s all for a good cause. Go to the Dayspring Villa link on my links page for more details.

Precious Moments...
Thank you to all of you that came to Precious Moments Inspirational Park in Carthage Missouri on July 24. Especially to those that not only came over to say hello, but toured the Pink Ribbons Crusade Exhibit. It was great to see so many old friends from last year and even nicer that most were returning to visit the exhibit because they had enjoyed it so much last time they came.

Remember that we are a not-for-profit charity and the money that we raise whilst the exhibit is at Precious Moments is all distributed locally in Missouri. If you haven’t seen the exhibit yet it is due to close in December, so make plans now – I promise, you won’t be disappointed. If you have seen it, then please tell all of your friends and help us raise even more money to promote breast cancer awareness.

Market Street Cooking School...
For those of you local to Dallas who enjoy watching the food network I will be teaching, demonstrating, sampling and promoting Pink Ribbons at Market Street United Stores in McKinney and Colleyville on September 25 and 26 (go to the Market Street link on my links page for more details). I think McKinney may have already sold out, but there were 8 seats available at Colleyville last time I checked.
Finally...

If you have any questions about the Royal Family that you think I might be able to answer for you then please
e-mail me at royalchef@comcast.net. I will try to answer the ones that I can on this page each month.

Denise asked me if I knew what china the Princess used at Kensington Palace. Well Denise, the Princess had several different patterns, the day to day china for entertaining was Herend.

Thanks again for looking at my site, if you enjoy it then please tell your friends.

Until next time......

Be good
